Black Sunday@19 Apr 2009
After i gotten her back, after a quick check i noticed the following:-
(1) about 10 of her nails bleed and some are still bleeding. The groomer told me that he did not realised it. He then bought Aiko in again to stop the bleeding.
(2) It is very obvious that after her nails are clipped, they have not been filed at all. The groomer replied is only 'upon customer request' to file the nails.
I sent an email to the boss , Alex Ang, seeking an explanation mentioned above. His wife gave me a call and both of them came over to have a look at Aiko. They say its their responsible too.
Their explanation ... They claimed that they are not trying to side their staff. They let Aiko stand and show me that they have done it correctly according to the standard .. that is the length of the nail should be 6mm above the ground. Plus Aiko is still a puppy so it can prevent the quick from growing longer.
After few days of research, i cannot find anywhere that mentioned puppy's nail actually has a standard length. In fact almost all site said that should never cut the quick as it will be very painful for the doggy and might cause infection.
I sms the boss to let them know about the above finding .. they too sent to me an reply.
"Thk u for feed bck, we appreciated. By the way i jst can explain to u tat experience n knowledge that we have on grooming will let us know how to judge n wat is guideline, is not that every single things also will can find in books or so call sources. We r using many years time to buy bck experience, is not that easy.If u think is very easy then can be a groomer i m sori to tell u that the answer is no! If u think i m still can't give u a very gd explanation then i m jst can say sori, i done my best. Hope to serve u better if got chance but if not, i m so sori. thk u."
My personal view, of coz it is not easy to be a "Professional Groomer" but anyone can be a lousy groomer as there isn't any regulation and license require to be a groomer. How could someone ignore the fact that it is very painful to cut till the quick .. Aiko must be very stress and painful while they cut her nail.
A good groomer not only need to equip with the neccessary skill n knowledge but need to care n love for the animal. Every doggy should treated with respect and given a good grooming experience.
What is the Pros v Cons of cutting till the quick .. wonder the groomer measure these:-
Pros - (1) Standard length (6mm above ground) (2) Prevent the quick from growing longer (3) Prevent the dog being hurt by their nail i.e overly long nail (this will happen if you doggy's nail is not regular clipped)
Cons - (1) very painful (2) lead to infection (3) rough/unfile - everytime she scratches herself will pull out her fur/ her ears become red too if she scratches it (4) she don't allow me to touch her paw (5) bad grooming experince lead to doggy becoming agressive to groomer (6) fear of future grooming
